Are you obligated to use Chrome and Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? If so, you can now consider giving up the outdated operating system or the most recent Chrome version.

Google Chrome will officially stop supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems with the release of Chrome 110 next year (tentatively sheduled for February 7, 2023). If you want to continue using Chrome as your browser, make sure your computer is running Windows 10 or a later version of the operating system.

Google also mentioned in the release that Microsoft’s policy of ceasing support for operating systems like Windows 7 ESU and Windows 8.1 extended on January 10, 2023, is consistent with this policy.
Of course, users of outdated operating systems can continue to use the previous version of Chrome, but Google will no longer issue new versions of the browser for users of outdated operating systems.
In order to ensure that they can continue to receive the most recent browser security updates and new Chrome updates in the future, Google is still advising these users who are still using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to update their computers to a version of Windows that can continue to receive updates before the time limit expires.
